Week 39 of the 2003/04 Season (6/14-6/20/04)
Primetime:
Cable's ratings continue to rise as the temperature heats up with Cable capturing 58% of total TV viewing in its third week of summer. In spite of Broadcast's attempt to hold on to its viewers with original reality programming, Cable continues to outperform the seven nets by an amazing 14.7 share points. Compared to year ago, Cable's viewership has jumped 2.6 million homes; its rating climbed 1.9 points and its share level soared 3.8 points to a 57.8 level (second highest to date). Conversely, Broadcast ratings declined from same period a year ago as share level slipped to a 43.1. Broadcast's decline was driven mainly by Fox’s performance as share level fell 21% this week.

As Second Quarter 2004 nears its end, Cable continues to outperform the Broadcast seven nets by a remarkable 10.3 share points and captures more than half of total TV viewing. Compared to year ago, Cable experiences healthy gains whereas the Broadcast networks continue to demonstrate declines.
Not only is Cable setting records week after week, Cable continues to demand half of total TV viewing to date this season. In addition, Cable continues to outpace Broadcast week after week and on a season basis Broadcast continues to fall 4.1 share points behind Cable. The spread is only going to grow as we progress into the summer season where Cable dominates.
