Cable Household Affluence
Cable now reaches 84%1 of all US TV homes, and Americans spend approximately $51.1 Billion2 per year for cable entertainment, more than for theatrical admissions, home video rentals and purchases, and video games combined. It should not come as a surprise, then, that cable households have significantly higher household incomes than non-cable households.
According to MRI, the average cable household enjoys an income level of $66,750 over the $53,313 average of non-cable households.

For many advertiser categories, cable subscribers provide a much more desirable potential consumer universe than the lower income non-cable households. This is illustrated in the following product consumption chart, comparing product consumption in cable HH’s to that of non-cable HH’s for a number of representative categories.
