Ad-Supported Cable has a 15.9 Point Primetime Share Edge Over Broadcast in Week #43 of the 2002/2003 TV Season
This is the 24th Consecutive Summer Week that Cable has Topped a 50+ Primetime Share
July 23, 2003
Ad-supported cable’s primetime dominance during the summer viewing period continued in high gear in the latest weekly reporting period, despite some highly-promoted programming from the national broadcast networks. According to a Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau analysis of Nielsen primetime data for July 14-20, ad-supported cable surpassed ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, UPN, WB and PAX combined by 9.1 million homes, 8.6 rating points and 15.9 share points.
Ad-supported cable’s average primetime U.S. household share of 53.8 makes it the 24th
consecutive summer week—dating back to May, 2002—that cable has passed the 50 share mark.
Cable maintained its streak of double-digit summer share advantages in the face of
much-publicized original programs from the broadcast networks, including new reality shows from NBC and FOX’s All-Star Game telecast.
