Ira Sussman Named VP-Research of the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau
July 30, 2003
Ira Sussman, who has been overseeing the research efforts of the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau on a consulting basis since May, has been named full-time vice president of research for the organization. He succeeds Jonathan Sims, who left CAB earlier this year to join Comcast Advertising Sales.
Sussman will be responsible for guiding the media and marketing research efforts of CAB, including serving as the primary liaison with the cable and advertising communities on research issues and initiatives.
He was previously EVP–Director of IM Futures of Initiative Media, one of the nation’s largest media agencies, where he developed groundbreaking research studies on the influence of children on parents’ purchasing behavior; and consumer receptivity to TV commercials.
Before that, Sussman was marketing/director of Times Mirror Magazines; planning research director of House of Seagram Media; and corporate media research director of Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhardt. He began his career in advertising as a media research supervisor with Ogilvy & Mather.
“Ira Sussman is an accomplished and creative strategist who will bring imaginative, solid and highly-useful new tools and solutions to all of CAB’s constituents,” said CAB President & CEO Sean Cunningham. “Ira and I are already deeply immersed in the creation of research which will give advertisers even greater detail on cable’s terrific hold on its viewers as well as the power of its brands.”
This is Cunningham’s first full-time hire at CAB since becoming CEO in late June.
