Ad Supported Cable delivered 30.3 million homes this week and garnered a 44.6 HH share. This week was somewhat of an irregular week when comparing to last year’s performance due to the Super Bowl airing this week and no telecast same period a year ago. With that said, Cable experienced a slight ratings decrease this week compared to last year while Broadcast bloomed thanks to ABC. The seven networks experienced a three share point gain which was primarily driven by ABC’s telecast of the Super Bowl. ABC’s share level jumped 8.5 points to an 18.4 level. The only other network to experience a gain was Fox which was up ever so slightly, delivering a 10.9 share.

To date this season, Cable is experiencing minimal gains delivering 30.1 million homes, garnering a 28.2 HH rating, and earning a 46.1 share. Broadcast on the other hand is down across all audience measures. The seven networks have lost 234,000 viewers so far and are experiencing rating and share losses compared to last year’s levels. In fact, five out of the total seven networks are experiencing share losses compared to same period a year ago with UPN declining the most.
Cable is off to a great start in First Quarter as Cable’s delivery is up significantly. In conjunction, Broadcast is also experiencing gains as rating and share are up slightly. Broadcast’s gain is being fueled by ABC and Fox whose share gains are up 1.7 points and 1.1 points, respectively.
